Alienware ALW14-4681sLV 14-Inch Gaming Laptop

Introduction:

Alienware gaming laptops are known for being powerful, unique, and of course, reasonably priced. The ALW14 was one that I really enjoyed using, and certainly continued with the trend.

Hardware and Specs:

Like all Alienware laptops, out of the box this guy just looked plain cool, but what I was really interested in was the hardware under the hood. This thing comes equipped with a 3.4 GHz Intel core i7 processor, 8 GB of ram, a 750 GB hard drive, and most importantly, the NVidia GeForce GTX 765M. I was really surprised with the power of the dedicated graphics card, which is more than just a decent gaming GPU.

Look and Feel:

The look and feel of a laptop are two things which I consider very important. Alienware looks to have done no wrong yet again with their latest 14 inch gaming laptop. The design is almost identical to its 17 inch counterpart, apart from the audio grille on the 17 inch model. The design is tasteful and attractive, but a bit flashy as well(I suppose this is what Alienware are best known for). The thickness of the 14 inch laptop makes the laptop seem very solid and robust; like a proper well-built gaming laptop. Alienware managed to combine portability with power to make a great laptop that is powerful enough to be a desktop replacement, and portable enough to use on the go.

I don’t say this just for every laptop, but the Alienware ALW14 really bears a superior screen and audio quality. The 14 inch gaming machine has a dazzling 1920 x 1080p display, which means it can fit more on the screen then some of its larger, lower resolution counterparts. With vibrant and crisp colors, everything just seems to pop out right at you.

Keyboard and Track pad:

Following with the Alienware trend, the keyboard and track pad are just an absolute pleasure to use. The only negative I can find here is that the 14 inch does not have a track pad, but for the portability of a 14 inch gaming laptop, that was a tradeoff I was more than willing to accept. Alienware decided to reject the Chiclet style trend of today’s gaming laptops, which I thought was daring, but it seems to have paid off. The keyboard also has a programmable backlight, which is a nice tough, and gives off an alluring glow in different circumstances. The track pad is rather large for a 14 inch laptop, but not large enough to get in the way of anything. It is very responsive, and performed multi touch gestures easily.

Conclusion: To conclude, with excellent build quality, powerful hardware, and the portability to match it all, this is a great gaming laptop for anyone. Its fresh and modern design, matched with its extraordinary portability for most gaming laptops, makes this one of the best gaming machines I have seen.
