Razer Blade 14 Inch Gaming Laptop Review

The third generation Razer Blade gaming laptop is Razer’s most powerful laptop to date. I really enjoyed my time with this laptop, which I consider a hybrid, for gamers and non gamers alike. Unlike its competitors, this is much less a heavy-duty desktop replacement, as it is a slim, compact alternative for anyone looking for a solid laptop in general.

Hardware and Specs:

The Razer blade is truly something special to look at, but all its looks certainly do not take away its power as a gaming machine.  This thing really packs a punch with an Intel core i7 2.2 GHz CPU, 8GB of DDR3l SDRam, a 256 GB hard drive ( one of the pitfalls of the laptop) and a NVidia GeForce GTX 765M video card. The rather small hard drive is a bit disappointing, but understandable, because of its size and design. The video card, the GTX 765M, is impressive to say the least, and is able to play some of todays most demanding games, at a respectable fps.

What perhaps stands out most for this laptop is its battery life, which blows its competitors out of the water.  This unprecedented runtime (compared to other high end gaming laptops) really separates it from its competitors, and makes it worth looking at.

Look and Feel:

This laptop is really a sight to behold. It’s beautiful, sleek design is miles ahead of most other high-end gaming laptops. It’s  gorgeous, classy design is certainly more than expected, and gave for a pleasant surprise. Its classy matte finish draws the resemblance to that of the MacBook pro, albeit with some serious gaming power. Coming in at just 4.1 pounds, and 14 inches across, this thing is much smaller than its competitors, of which most are on the other side of 10 pounds. The actual display of the laptop unfortunately leaves a little to be desired, with a 1600 x 900p resolution, is a bit lower than most of its main competitors on the market. Despite its relatively disappointing display, this laptop is gorgeous to look at, with perhaps the best design on the market.

Keyboard and Track pad:

I thoroughly enjoyed using both the keyboard and the track pad on this gaming machine. The keyboard feels just right, with a Chiclet design. It is a solid keyboard, offering a firm and tactile response when called upon. The roomy track pad, equipped with a matte black sensor, which provides enough room for multi-touch gestures. Although IU game with a mouse most of the time, I really enjoyed using the Razer’s keyboard and track pad.

Conclusion: Razer’s 14-inch Blade was a pleasure to use. As a small high-end gaming laptop with long battery life, it really is an all around great machine. If you are looking for a small, reliable, sleek gaming laptop, then you might just have to consider the Razer.
